Douglas Carr: Testimony of Involvement with Branch County Jail

I began volunteering at the Branch County Jail in the spring of 1988 at the “old” jail on Pearl Street. For years, I only preached once a month, which I still do. Later, I also began counseling inmates one-on-one each week, which has been a great blessing. Finally, I began participating in the Men’s Bible Study and Life Recovery programs, currently led by Dominick on alternating Tuesday evenings.

My involvement with the jail ministry has increased over the years. It is a fruitful ministry, and I've witnessed more people come to Jesus and become His disciples through jail ministry than through pastoring several churches since 1976.

Over the years, there were times when the load became so heavy that I considered resigning, but every time I talked with the Lord about it, He responded, “Inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these My brethren, you have done it unto Me.” Therefore, I keep on keeping on.
